AODAdocs

We offer graphic design services to create premium-quality accessible documents – including full PDF remediation programming to make your communications truly useful to everyone in your audience. Our goal is to provide elegant documents and marketing collateral that are seamlessly accessible to everyone – including users of assistive technologies.

Prepare for the future

On January 1, 2025, Ontario businesses and Non-Profits will be required to provide communications support for customers and employees as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

This mandate requires that accessible versions of print and digital materials be made available if requested.

AODAdocs Remediation Services

We can help make your print and interactive PDFs accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities. Our mandate is to ensure that each PDF we program is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and is tested against the Matterhorn Protocol using PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC 2024). We insist that all documents have a 100% PDF/UA and WCAG 2.1 pass rate – zero errors, zero warnings.

Our process isn’t automated and it’s not high-volume – each document is assessed, designed and programmed to provide an optimal user experience. We test and listen to every page we program to ensure an error-free output that provides a truly useful document for everyone.

We deliver quality, not quantity. We focus on the design, preparation and remediation of documents and PDFs to fully meet the PDF/UA and WCAG 2.1 guidelines. But we strive to go further to deliver a truly useful “natural language” user experience to those that need it – a user experience with proper cadence, pauses and descriptive text so that the audio output is as natural as an everyday conversation.

Services offered include:

  • information and requirements review and consultation,
  • accessible graphic design (Adobe InDesign or Microsoft Word/Powerpoint),
  • document preparation,
  • PDF remediation; and
  • production/project management.

We believe that every person is entitled to a quality user experience whether they are using an assistive technology or not. Our goal is to create a robust and consistent user experience for every person who accesses your documents, regardless of abilities.
